don't you people read?! Posted by: kyle at September 6, 2006 2:38 PM"What are you reading for?"—Bill Hicks Currently re-reading Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. Hope you are doing well kiddo!!!! Posted by: JJ Whittemore at September 6, 2006 5:26 PMThe collected novels of Jean Rhys (again). Posted by: Josh at September 6, 2006 7:17 PM"The Mystery of the Missing Wallpaper Paste." Posted by: homer at September 6, 2006 8:04 PMWhy do I feel like this is somehow a bastardization of Encyclopedia Brown? Posted by: Andy at September 6, 2006 8:59 PMTis is no way related to Encyclopedia Brown, much like Veronica Mars isn't Nancy Drew. Plus a die-hard Encyclopedia Brown fan just finished it and said, even though it isn't flawless, it was a wonderful read. Posted by: kyle at September 6, 2006 10:15 PMPerhaps a tad cliche in the current popular consciousness, but I've currently picked up Dave Eggers' "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" and, long overdue, Dave Sedaris's "Naked". Maybe I just have a thing for Daves. Incidentally, Sedaris is coming to speak at the University of Richmond next month, so that'll make for a soft landing whilst riding the Running With Scissors cinema bomb :D Posted by: Michael at September 7, 2006 5:33 AMindeed, friends who have seen RUNNING WITH SCISSORS tell me its really ANNETTE BENNING: THE MOVIE, which isn't neccessarily a bad thing unless you're head over heels for the book, which I wasn't. My friend peter and i also find it odd that the house of horros resembles more THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS than Ms. Havisham's... Posted by: kyle at September 7, 2006 7:10 AMI loved Running with Scissors, the book and I love Ms. Benning, and if one is going to condence that book down to a cinematic running time, she's a good one to focus on (especially when you de-fat Natalie, what's that about?!) I am reading "The Ruins" by Scott Smith. (author of "A Simple Plan") Nothing like man-eating vegetables. I'm reading boring, work-related books. I miss reading for pleasure. :( Posted by: Jason at September 7, 2006 2:20 PMThanks for recommending this book, Kyle! I read it over the weekend & absolutely loved it. I can't wait to read more by this writer. I just finished the Kite Runner, which was mostly a waste of time, and now I'm reading Shared Fantasy, by Gary Alan Fine. Posted by: sleepy kev at September 11, 2006 4:06 PMA recap, part 1 With Digital ID World in the books as a success, I always like to take a look back at "what I learned." As an organizer of the conference, Digital ID World is always a whirlwind experience for me, but I find that as I look back Posted by: Johanson at September 19, 2006 8:08 PMPost A Comment
