[somewhat resolutionness] 9:01 PM

I haven't really been a super-poster for the past few months, and it's not something that can just be written off as "being busy," but I've been afraid of jinxing things.

But nothing has happened, and its hard to jinx something that moves slower than a drunk snail. I realized there isn't really any place on the net that may chronicle the evolution of animated or published projects. The ony two I can think of are Kochalka's forum and Jackson Publick's livejournal.

So what does it take to try and get a TV show on the air? A lot of pitches, a lot of meetings, some prayer to a God of your choosing, and lots and lots and lots of tinkering. Have I made a lot of headway? More than some, less than others.

I've been meeting with 4 networks/studios over the past 2 months trying to sell an animated series. It's been a big love fest both ways, but the interest and tinkering has just been round and round. They love it, but can i "do more work" on it? Can I "come back when you have A, B, and C?" Sure.

The interesting thing about the "Fantastic Four" is how much they defy, meet, and fall below expectations. Everyone has been nice, don't get me wrong, I think it'd be impossible to badmouth anyone I've met with -- I'm talking more along the lines of office complexes, work setups and things in the pipeline.

It takes a while to get stuff off the ground, the phrase "hurry up and wait," i think, was created in Los Angeles. But I'm optimistic.

Currently I'm putting the finishing touches on the written portions to three pitches - one revised and two new ones. All comedies (everyone is desperate for the next Spongebob, not realizing such a fluke can never be duplicated). Some featuring faces blog-peoples have seen before. The next step is doing new art, rearranging old art, and putting it all together in a pretty east-to-flip-through package that will make some nice development executive go "wow."

I'm honestly so drained from holidays and travel that all I want to do is sit, write, and draw. I want to make something. I want magic, but I'll settle for grand illusions.

Comments

it will all happen... talent eventually wins out. stay focused and stay persistent.
