May 26, 2005[we've lost our way] 02:36 AMThe very first thing I ever read about Lost was that it was JJ Abrams's new show about people stranded on an island, and he mentioned expanding the Rimbaldi mythos (from the then great Alias) to other shows. People trapped on a Rimbaldi island? Wicked. Well, Lost has kicked ass with no sight of Rimbaldi, some of my friends in the other timezones complained of the finale. I liked it, my hopes weren't too high, just high, and my only real disappointment was the casting of Mr. Boat (who somehow made his way from Applacia to the Pacific ocean). Afterwards, we watched Alias' season finale. We know how I feel about the show now, so it should come as a surprise when I say that tonight's episode was one of the series' lamest outings with one of the best endings. I'll give it 30 minutes of my time next year (which is more than generous). Seriously people, that cast needs a major slim-down, and the writing staff needs to burn all the Nancy Drew books they seem to have laying about the office. This was the final night of sweeps, which means we're entering a television wasteland. The lone spot on the horizon is Six Feet Under in two weeks, and maybe The Comeback. Movie Theatre, my entertainment rests in your hands now. Please, don't screw me over. Comments
It felt just a touch padded to me, I could have done without quite SO much to-do over the dynamite for instance. It would also have been nice for at least one of the many mysteries to get a solid wrapping up. Instead they chose to deepen almost all of them. I'll be back though. It was a satisfying finale for me, much more satisfying than the travesty that was perpetrated over on Fox. Posted by: Cully at May 26, 2005 09:35 AMJamie showed a remarkable ability to predict the endings as he watched last night's episode, and he's not a regular viewer. Still enjoyable. Kyle, I miss our Monday morning recap sessions at CPK. Posted by: John at May 26, 2005 10:10 AMWow, I thought Alias' season finale was pretty damn good. And that ending? Holy shit! That had my heart pumping fast for those few seconds. I'm glad it's not going to be a 'happy ending' for Michael (or whatever his real name is) and Syd. I'm glad they didn't kill off Irena, which I thought they were maybe going to do. I really wish Nadia was officially dead though. I can't stand her! Posted by: Tom at May 26, 2005 11:58 AMlike i said, Alias had one of the best endings it's ever had, but why we had to suffer through zombie people is beyond me. Watching that show now makes me feel like I'm watching some syndicated sci-fi show or one of the Stargate spin-offs.
