March 17, 2007[where are we going?] 2:19 AMI just finished watching the two-part season finale of Battlestar Galactica, which I have very mixed feelings for. After viewing it and debating its flaws and merits with company I went online and read some other early reviews of it. Y'know what? On paper this thing is amazing. In fact, on paper the entire season is amazing. But it was horribly executed. Horribly. And it started out so strong! After episode 6, everything went downhill. Things popped out of nowhere repeatedly, and not in the good "oh, shocking!" way. Season 3 had more dead weight than season 2, which just proves that they don't need 20 episodes. They just don't. You many want more, but its obvious when you get it its not of the quality you desire. 13 episodes is great. Season 1? 13 episodes of awesome. Season 2 without the filler? Shakes out to about 13. Unlike Lost, I have total faith that next season (it's last) BSG will be able to pull of a miracle and an astonishing conclusion, but after watching the past few weeks ... its no wonder Sci Fi was on the fence about renewing it. I'll weigh in on this as soon as I see it. I have a feeling we'll be agreeing. Posted by: John at March 19, 2007 6:59 AMPost A Comment
