October 23, 2006[office politics] 2:56 PMNow that I go to work in an office everyday I'm starting to notice things. For example: When one goes into "work mode" certain facets of their intelligence simply leave them. This explains congress, network executives, and people who decide to smoke in meth labs. Today my office experienced a collective mental breakdown of its own. We have a vending machine that is not so secretly stocked by our accountant who is currently on vacation out of the country. The vending machine is out of Dr. Pepper. Snooping employees would know that the vending machine stash is hidden behind the water cooler under the counter of the kitchen, but alas, it was empty too! We sat and thought for 10 minutes about what to do. We could go buy some Dr. Pepper, but it wouldn't be cold. A-ha! Someone could go buy some ice trays...but the forthcoming ice wouldn't be ready for now. Someone offered to go to a restaurant nearby that has Dr. Pepper on tap, but was a cold soda pop worth giving up your parking space? Something was missing, and that something was logic. Simple BBQ logic. Out of something? Go to the store and buy it. They sell ice, too! In bags! Right across the street! Remember worker bees, try to keep your wits about you at all times! Comments
