[sunset strip] 8:43 AM

Last night we made a rare pilgrimage to the Strip to see one of our friends perform. It was a minor big deal since we're always out of town when she sings.

Alex is a ubiquitous "chick with a guitar," but she's actually good, which is a relief. I was worried we were in for Lilith Fair Jr. and that feeling wasn't unfounded.

The second I walked into the Cat Club, things weren't registering: there was a Vanessa Cartlon clone on stage with a piano and a cello wailing about her life's troubles and taking an inordinant amount of pauses for "dramatic effect." The icing on the cake was when she said, very meloncholly, "This next song is called The Vicitim."

In the words of Wednesday Addams, "All your life."
