[movie round-up] 9:30 PM

With all this traveling as of late, it's been hard to see new movies. That will change, I imagine, this weekend with Snakes on a Plane and fall movie season ramping up.

I read through the latest EW and didn't recognize half the films that were being previewed for the fall, proving just how in the dark I am. It does look like some good stuff is coming up, especially Chris Nolan's The Prestige.

Regardless, I owe you folks some poster reviews. As you can see from the paltry selection, I haven't gotten to the theatre much:

I've been watching a lot of older movies lately on DVD, which I think might be why I'm so harsh on newer films. It must really say something when The Devil Wears Prada is one of my favorite films of the whole summer.

After a double-header of It Happened One Night and The Goonies ... well, c'mon now.

Gee, most people liked Little Miss. I'm sorry, are you nation's premier Proust scholar whose blah blah blah blah...

But yeah I started cringing at the Weekend at Bernies moment...and at the end I should have seen that coming. But otherwise I gave it a 4/5.

Yeah, LMS was bomb explosive for me. It's the perfect movie to see right after the Descent.

there's just something about watching a perpetually uncomfortable movie that I wasn't jonesing for. I can't really fault much of anything, it was laugh out loud funny with an excellent cast, but I just wanted to curl into a ball and go to my happy place.

It was like watching the end of ABOUT A BOY on repeat, where you just want to hug everyone and make it better.
