In the past year 2 JJ Abrams series became "Created by JJ Abrams" series, seeing as how he was no longer actively involved in any of them. Poor Lost and Alias.

It's hard to figure out which show is suffering more. On one hand, Lost went from genius to practically unbearable, with hints of magic through out the over-long sophmore season. Alias has been on the decline for over 2 years, but at least now you know you're going to get total crap - and now both shows have had their finales.

If JJ had a master plan for Alias, he obviously didn't share it. The past few years have been a giant mess, with its series finale being an incoherent monster of odd short-cuts, useless storylines, and the epiphany that Arvin Sloane (aside from wanting to be immortal) has killed everyone in his way for ... real estate. Oh, and the unkillable Irina dies via skylight.

Lost provided a satisfying finale, with almost as many endings as Return of the King. A shame that it was a long boring second season road getting here. If I get so inclined, I may make a list of 8 season 2 episodes - because that's all I think they needed to tell the arc.

Just like last year, I'm now inclined to watch the next 3 episodes, then drop the show until sweeps kick in. A shame, after a riviting freshman debut.
