While Alias is a complete joke of its former self (I absolutely hate the SydClone, just as I thought Evil-Spectral-First-Buffy on season 7 was lame on a stick), and Lost only delivers for 5 minutes every week, you can always count on Veronica Mars to deliver for an hour. Or 42 minutes if you skip the commercials.

Speaking of delivery, let's take a moment for Commander and Chief. I wasn't a huge fan of the pilot, and was never really a fan of the show, though I wanted it to do well. It seems that ABC can't leave well enough alone.

They forced the creative teams of Alias to stop weekly cliffhanger endings, they made Lost and Housewives break season planning by extending the season order at the last minute, and they cancelled My So-Called Life (I'll probably be perpetually bitter). They also changed the showrunner of Chief THREE TIMES in the course of one unevenly aired season. It took West Wing almost two years to recover from one regime change. Poor Geena Davis never had a chance of a long term presidency, and while the Golden Globe is nice, this box art for the dvd is not:

Speaking of MSCL, a friend of mine is friends with one of the show's former writers. One day while having a meal the show came up and my friend inquired about the second season that never was. Apparently, were the show to go a sophomore year, the plan was to divorce Patty and Graham (Angela's parents).

True, I would have hated that development, and part of me is still happy we left everyone on a high note, it makes me sad that I'll only have 5 dvds on my shelf.

Bringing the entry full circle, the Veronica Mars season one dvd's are half-off at Amazon, and if the show doesn't make it to the CW I think I'll feel a small implosion in that place where my heart and my brain connect.
