[the weekend of lies] 6:44 PM

For the past few days, on top of finishing off some freelance gigs, Boy's mom has been in town. We went to see Cirque de Soleil's Quidam down in Long Beach, ate amazing food, and for a period of days I was lied to.

Boy protests that it wasn't "lying" per se, but creating "alternate truths." At first I was regaled with tales of a water leak that was destroying the laundry room, and I was further told that a plumber had arrived to fix the leak. Even John the landlord got in on the act. During that time while I was at the office I got a call regarding dinner and what time I'd be home to eat.

Why all the lying? Well, on friday I discovered a new digital cable box in the living room. Not only is cable a sign that my boyfriend has been abducted by aliens, but the fact that he got the premium digital package (hello, Sopranos) is proof that the aliens that took him plan on destroying the world. The next day a nice delivery man from Fumi's arrived and planted a new 75 gallon fish tank in the dining room. Later in the weekend, I was to avoid the wreckage of the kitchen at all costs because the "plumber fixing the leak" was actually Sears delivery people coming in the side door delivering a new washer/dryer (which looks as though it belongs in Baltar's lab) and a dishwasher.

For a good 5 minutes I felt like a housewife who struck gold on The Price is Right.

So yes. A weekend of lies alternate truths has lead to a vastly re-arranged house and the ability for me to watch Cartoon Network on the big screen. I love when moms come to visit.

It's true that we're not used to the sounds the new appliances make yet, so we think the house is about explode with each load of dishes or clothes, but it's all good.

Now I sit, slowly inhaling paint fumes at the office. I just sent out an evite for my gallery show, but the time isn't settled, so I'll wait for that before I post anything here. I'm not exactly sure how many pieces I'll have room to show, but I plan to have 20-30 of various sizes in waiting, so I'm sure you can expect a deluge of other work to pop up on here come april.

I had a lying boyfriend too, but never the nice kind of lies...

Lying boys should be forced to do the dishes, feed the fishes, and watch the telly.
