[Year One] 8:46 PM

Funny that I've now beein in LA for over a year. Less than a year and the city feels more familiar and homelike than anywhere else I've lived. Sure it has tourettes and schizophrenia, but my little pocket is mine and I love it.

When my mother tells former teachers and friends that I've moved to LA they all seem to say, "of course" or "I always knew he'd end up there." Nobody exactly told me that, but I'm glad I was able to fulfill a prophecy that isn't laced with pain or the end of the world.

More often than not, when driving on a clear day and staring at the hills, I catch myself smiling or blissfully content. This feeling is easily exchanged for bitter rage when stuck in 5 pm traffic, but can be easily avoided with proper planning.

It's funny to think that almost exactly a year ago I was scrambling for winter gear (my winterwear had low priority getting to the west coast) when I decided on the fly to go to the Sundance Film Festival. I found everything on clearance in a day, packed a bag, and was Utah-bound. Now Sundance is here again, and I find it amusing that I'm relieved I'm not going because of my excess of travel and moving within the past 3 months. Instead I'm content with cleaning the house, watching some TV and going out to karaoke at night while Boy is off racing cars in Germany for the week.

Yes, it is a peculiar life.

I think my current wave of serenity is thanks to a day of writing and sketching potential paintings. I haven't done that in a while, and when I think of it, I haven't really drawn or painted anything in over a month. While I haven't stopped moving over the holidays, it seems my hand has gotten a vacation, and he's ready to get back to work.

Yes, I said, "it seems my hand has gotten a vacation, and he's ready to get back to work." Get your mind out of the gutter.

Can you blame us? You *did* mention that Boy's in Germany.

Everyone has told me that they can see me in the city. Like I belong here. But I don't really get it... I still see myself as more of a country boy. I enjoy it, it's nice for a change, but my roots are elsewhere.

So you've moved to LA and fulfilled a prophecy...join the CIA field-office there and Rambaldi will be next!

(And with your hand ready to get back to work, harvesting your sperm shouldn't be a problem).
