[close Encounter of the medium rare kind] 1:41 PM

Boy and I do not have good luck with fancy restaurants. We try, but it always becomes a fiasco. The latest fiasco was last night at The Encounter at LAX, a living monument to the 1960's. It was the first time I've ever sent food back, but the creamed spinach and snow peas were good.

I know, I know, you're asking yourself "how can a round room full of lava lamps be bad?" Trust me, ambience only goes so far.

I've never even had the urge to eat there. I always assumed it was a bit of a joke, an excuse to overcharge the clientele.

I've always wanted to check it out, but now, armed with your warning, won't feel compelled to go anymore.

oh it's well worth the tiki-elevator ride. It maybe worth going to the bar for a drink, but i don't think dining is in order :)

oh oh? there's a tiki elevator? what's that, an elevator lined with bamboo? are there pineapples? torches? a fake volcano?!?

I would go for a tiki elevator...
