[gobble] 11:56 AM

Oh, what a winding road a year takes you on.

This time last year I was in DC sitting with Kevin and Andrew at Megan and Stanza's apartment. We cobbled together food, drank beer and marched through frigid wind to see The Incredibles (again) before going to a night of dancing at Blowoff.

Now I'm in Kansas City (which itself has some frigid wind) with Boy and his family, missing LA yet feeling completely at home. I've eaten my body weight in oatmeal raisin cookies, and soon food will be ready and we'll have a small feast.

Through the magic of cell phones, my friends and family send me text messages, which I return, and even though money is tight I can't help but feel grateful. Thankful.

As peculiar as I find it, my friends and family understand me, are there for me, and continue to make me sane and laugh. I'm thankful for them. I'm thankful for that one person who has made my heart grow bigger than I thought possible, and who has helped stretch my smile and mind beyond their natural limits.

I stayed up late last night. I brought some paint, paper and brushes with me, and I sat while everyone else was asleep and painted Christmas cards. The cold front was coming in, the wind outside was scattering leaves, and I realized I couldn't be happier.

I can only hope the same for everyone. That today you find yourself somewhere you can sit back, look at where you are, who you are with, and smile.

Happy Thanksgiving, Kyle!

One of the (many) things I'm thankful for this year is tripping across your delightful blog.

God bless, and a safe journey home.

Not there yet myself, but it warms my heart to know one person who's reached that place. Happy Thanksgiving, Kyle.
