September 18, 2005[flames, flames on the side of my face] 4:45 PMIf you know Paul at all, then you know that he is obsessed with Clue. If you don't know Paul, well, I've just informed you. So, Paul sends out an email about the NuArt having a midnight screening on friday, and since I enjoy both Paul and Clue, I go. Nobody informed me this viewing of Clue would be in the vein of Rocky Horror. A cast. Props. Costumes. Screaming at the screen. It worked out fairly well, seeing as for the most part the cast simply enacted the movie in tandem with the screen, but the catcalls from the audience wore a bit thin on my nerves. Our Mrs. Peacock was good, though. She had it down. Before the film started we/I were informed that this was the 4th annual NuArt Clue screening, and as the previous screenings had been such success Paramount saw fit to give us a new print of the film, which was pretty damn gorgeous. If you know Clue, you might be asking yourself which ending was shown at the theatre (there are 3, technically 4, but the 4th has never been shown). The answer, quite happily, is all 3, and we were informed that this was the first time in theatrical history that all 3 had been shown in succession. One humorous moment came when we realized that the guy sitting infront of us was "playing" Mr. Boddy on stage, and after his body (get it?) is fianlly disposed of he came back to his seat, draped his arm around his date/girlfriend and asked if she was having a good time. She figidly replied "No." and one was certain that Mr. Boddy was not getting laid that evening. Can you imagine going to "your boyfriend's thing" and having it turn out to be Clue or Rocky Horror? Myself, I'd need fair warning. And by "fair warning" I mean, "Honey, every saturday night I put on a gold bikini and pretend to be a cult-classic sex-bot, so you might want to prepare yourself." "Flames, on the side of my face, heaving, burning,.." Clue was my favorite board game when I was a kid ("You kids today, with your Atari and your Playstation!" {Shakes fist menancingly}) I loved the Clue movie (or, rather, I loved Mrs. White/Madelyn Kahn) but I didn't know that there was a fourth unaired ending, just the ones that they have shown on cable/Comedy Central... Posted by: Frank at September 19, 2005 12:48 PMthere were 3 endings on the dvd, but they were never shown all together in the THEATRE until that night.
