Just got back from seeing Toontime with the RZA with Peter. Neither of us had any idea what to expect aside from the knowledge that RZA would provide a soundtrack for cartoons being projected inside the Ford Amphitheatre (which is awesome).

So what cartoons were played? The majority were some badass shorts by Ub Iwerks and Max Fleischer from the 30's — the crowning moment being a Fleischer Superman short cued up to the Kill Bill Vol. 1 soundtrack.

Fun things also included:
- Sitting next to Danny Strong
- Being in the hills on a gorgeous night
- Looking up and seeing the stars (and one really lowflying plane)
- Getting a mild contact high
- The beautiful boy in the orange shirt
- Method Man in tha house
- Free seat cushions from the fine folks at Target
- New DVD scrubbing tech, that allowed them to scrub the toons as you would a record

On a completely unrelated note, you really should get the new Motown Remixed. It's the shizzle.

Is that Danny Strong as in 'Buffy' and 'Gilmore Girls' Danny Strong? You seem to meet interestign folks, and I just get past reality folks.

Don't you two kinda resemble each other? Folks must've thought they were seeing double.

in person i don't look anything like Danny, he's muy muy tiny. I've actually met him through mutual friends before, but I don't think he'd remember me, unless he recalled me as being "the boy on the couch with the pizza and diet coke."

Funny, I just came accross this when searching for an image. Hmm let me guess where you were sitting... center section towards the front, maybe between row 2-5? hahahhaa That would have been a contact from my section ;) My boyfriend and I were the happy hippies passing the "california ciggs" around. Open air, nice weather, BYOB allowed, no security hassle, the RZA providing a soundtrack to Toons, I must admit it was a great evening.
