May 18, 2005[trash] 1:03 AMThe primary job of Netflix, as far as I'm concerned, is to give me potentially bad movies. Technically, it's to give me any movie I want, but so far I've used it to give me things I've had a middling interest in things some people have told me were awful, but I still wanted to see for myself (example: I'm awaiting National Treasure this week). Whenever I go home to Texas, the boys and usually rent bad movies, and I feel it's something that's been missing in my life. Blade Trinity was an aboslute abomination, a disaster of epic proportions, The Grudge was at times only mildly amusing, but in the end quite forgettable (and not at all scary, just interesting at points). I got the much-lauded Sideways and didn't care for it (the big deal is lost on me Payne's Election also didn't astound me), so what happened earlier tonight surprised me: I really enjoyed Alien vs. Predator. Who doesn't love Queen Rex in the snow!?
Sure it could've been better. Hell, it could've been great, but given the recent spat of movies I've seen I'll take the good and run with it. Reach Up for The Sunrise (Jason Nevins Remix) Duran Duran Comments
"The Grudge" was extremely scary in the movie theater - quite different when watching it at home. Sorry you didn't like. Posted by: Mike at May 18, 2005 1:55 PMSo glad someone else didn't like Sideways. I love Paul Giamatti but there was nothing redeeming about his character -- he was a big loser who deserved to NOT get the girl in the end. Make him a bit charming or funny but this 40-something pathetic loser type is not something I find likeable or even remotely entertaining. Posted by: Scott at May 19, 2005 9:38 AMPost A Comment
