[playlist / netflix review THE GRUDGE] 7:14 PM

Guess who just got Netflix? Yeah, that's me.

Yesterday we discussed the poor, poor case of Blade Trinity, and today we'll talk very briefly about The Grudge. I may have found the film's storytelling device to be more innovative if I hadn't seen Pulp Fiction or been watching Lost for the past 7 months. Jason Behr was nice scenery with not much to do but look cute in his underwear, and SMG did a good job playing this "Karen" person — even if she was essentially wearing the same sweater she wore in "The Yoko Factor" on Buffy.

Wow, that was a nerd moment.

Basically the film, which had a refreshingly non-heroic ending, simply reaffirmed my feelings that waterlogged japanese girls make the scariest corpses.

I think the real meat of the film existed with the ghost of the boy who died with his pet cat, and their spirits merged into a fucking creepy hybrid...

Comments

I think the Grudge was just horrid. There were so many plot mythology holes that ruined the whole thing.

The whole thing reeked of the same sewage Ring Two was fished from.

Great song: Jennifer Saunder's cover of Frou Frou's Holding Out for a Hero.
