Ah, another night with Brave Jimmy (who shall from now on be referred to as "Mary-Kate").

My tour of the fine burgers of LA continued with a trip to Fred's 62 in Los Feliz, which wound up being a real winner. We followed up diner-requisite cherry Cokes with a trip to the Lucky Bar, where my Mai Tai provided ample buzz in preparation for a trip to the The Echo, where Gram Rabbit was putting on a show. They were playing with Golden Republic, whose music I didn't really take to (but they had an awesome t-shirt).

The easiest way to describe Gram Rabbit's music is as such: imagine you find yourself in a ghost town, you walk into an abandoned bar, and a phantom band are playing glam-country-rock. With bunny ears. And one creepy bunny mask. And a bright orange plastic pistol.

While the Echo's acoustics sucked, the music was still pretty great, and the band was full of personality. How do you not love an indifferent pixie-diva front-woman in a leopard print bikini who goes by the name of Jesika von Rabbit?

Before going home Mary-Kate and I hit up Fubar, which (unlike last week) was playing good music, and he was making strong drinks, which is a harsh contrast to the Tuesday night wa$teland that is Beige.

I finally saw Finding Neverland today. It made me cry three times. I blame the full moon and Jan A.P. Kaczmarek's score. Also not helping matters was the factual knowledge that the two oldest Davies sons died shortly thereafter their mother and father (one from drowning, the other from World War I).

I want to see this, but I fear I may freak out (especially if they have any of that fucked up footage of those great whites that leap out of the water).

Good Luck • Basement Jaxx

Gram Rabbit... only heard a bit of one song on their site (their lyrics weirded me out), but I immediately thought of Calexico --- but with more WYATT EARP and less MEXICAN DESPERADO.

I like Gram Rabbit (reminds me more of Nick Cave) but the band they're touring with on some dates, Golden Republic is probably the dumbest show I've seen in a while...they DID make a good back up band for Sondre Lerche though...

I finally saw Finding Neverland for the first time on Friday, too! And I also cried about three times (I didn't count).

It was much better than I expected, and I expected it to be good.
