[the sadness, the joy] 4:53 PM

Wow, Alias totally sucked last night. A lot. I have season one on DVD, I don't need to watch it again with a clean-shaven Sloane and a Syndey "I have bangs" Garner. So sad.

The good news is that Gilmore Girls is in the midst of a magical rennaissance which rivals the first season, and Race Bannon arrived this morning (unbroken!)

I now have a computer and tomorrow I shall have the internet (and subsequently: the world).

Today's Bittersweet Moment is brought to you
by a new photo from my going away party:

mmmm mantinis...

Could this entry be anymore random? Yes.

I had lunch with D yesterday where I had my first In-and-Out Burger (still not sure what the hubub was about) and spent yesterday afternoon in a magical office where I defended my love of 13 Going on 30 and made general banter with very attractive people. People in power agree with me that Ryan Cabrera needs to cut his damn hair. I saw a smashed guitar signed by Jack White and one of those Teen Choice Award surfboards, which are actually kinda short.

Superhero comics are losing a lot of ground. 22 pages of story are barely doing it for me. Only Astonishing X-Men and The Ultimates really get me going anymore.

I made it a whole day without going to Target! YES!

Comments

"Santa, I want a pony for Christmas. And some new roller skates. And a new wagon."

"Quit moving, kid, you'll make me shpill my apple shyyder martini! You'll get a lump of coal and you'll like it!"

"I don't think that lump is coal, Santa."

Heh - I found myself nodding in agreement with you on everything. Alias did kind of suck, I hate La Garner's bangs (I still think her best look ever was as Elektra in Daredevil - she can rock the highlights and the green contacts), Ryan Cabrera's hair product has magical, gravity-defying properties, and 13 Going On 30 was a most excellent movie.

Congrats on staving off the Target love for a day.

It's so sad about the X-Men. It has always had so much potential to be mind-blowingly good, but they keep hiring and firing second-rate writers in such rapid succession. No cohesion, not even any of the interesteing, drawn-out arcs they used to have.

Is Astonishing... the one Joss Whedon is writing?

And Will Eisner died, which makes me very sad.

JG was fine as Elektra, but Daredevil totally sucked. I'm looking forward to her own movie: the trailer is such a daft mix of Hollywood superhero trash and wuxia pien, it can't possibly work and yet somehow it just might. There's precedent: Frank Miller's high points came mostly from ruthlessly plundering the Orient.

oh, you'll get one of those TEEN CHOICE surfboards of your own one day. for what? i'm not sure. but for something, assuredly.

I love the Astonishing X-Men and Ultimates too. Have you read Iron Man now that Warren Ellis has taken over? There would be my recommendation to you.
Peace.
