• We go to the world premiere of The Whale and the Squid The Squid and the Whale, Noah Baumbach's new film starring Laura Linney and Jeff Daniels. Laura isn't there, but John C. Reilly is. He's tall. We dub the film The Ghetto Tenenbaums.

• Paul "sleeps" for 14 hours. He denies a near death experience.

• I stay up late talking to condo-mates Crystal (an event planner) and James (a journalist from the UK). Crystal is blitzed on wine, and James is bleary-eyed from 5 screenings that day, yet he stays up longer than me.

• After midnight Rider and Shiloh arrive exausted. Rider takes the couch and Shiloh takesthe bottom bunk on the VERY wobbly bunkbed. When I roll over i try to do it gently so I don't wake up Shiloh. When I lay on my stomach my heartbeat makes the mattress throb.

• At the Utah Film Commission brunch we sit next to a very chatty woman named Vicci who's down from British Columbia. She talks to Stewart endlessly about filming in Canada, and makes a point of mentioning that her area of BC boasts EIGHT Starbucks. I'm sure for some people that's actually a selling point.

• While Toby looked at Sony HD cameras, Paul, Stewart, and I ventured into kitschy gift shops. Stewart found and fell in love with a $12 stuffed moose with magnetic hooves. He was dubbed "Magic" and spent the remainder of the day attached to Stewart's wrist.

Don't let your experience with "Vicci" put you off BC. Most of us in the city at least are actually very cultured... as cultured as trained water-apes can be...

PS I love your blog.

Heh-- Kyle's been to BC before, Brods. He knows how uncultured we actually are.

"Ghetto Tenenbaums"? Sweet!

It sounds promising. I'm looking forward to it.
