[cue slow motion and guitar] 12:36 AM

Dear Sally,

I got a letter from school today. Nothing bad, nothing to upset the future. But it was the future. It was about graduation. Requirements and things; things that have to get done. Things about my ceremony. My guests. My parents.

My parents and grandparents are going to be in town to see me walk across the stage. My aunt and uncle might come, too. On my mother's side. Which is like, unheard of. I've never had members both sides of my family in the same room.

It all began to sink in, y'know? That this is all, like, happening. I'm going to be done with school. Moving. To places that are like, real. Where I could actually do things I want to do. Where I could make things happen. I hope.

It's all about deep breaths, right?

Yes, it's all about deep breaths - and a healthy perspective, which I think you have.

I know it's early, but congratulations! Your family will be there to see you and celebrate your achievements - and really, how cool is that?

Dear Felicity,

Here it goes. I've watched you for four years. Always wondered what you were like... what was going on in your mind all the time that you were so quiet, just thinking, drawing in your notebook. I should have just asked you, but I never asked you. So now, four years later, I don't even know you, but I admire you. Well this makes me sound crazy, but I'm okay with that. So take care of yourself.

Love Ben.

PS: I would have said "keep in touch" but unfortunately we never were in touch.

Deep enough to carry me three thousand miles on gossamer wings.
